The Playbook | East Coast Elite Combine 2022

It was a great weekend of football at East Hans Sports Complex in Nova Scotia as the 2nd Annual East Coast Elite Combine took place November 25th-27th 2022 and featured a great number of youth soccer players from the Atlantic region and beyond.

The East Coast Elite combine provides opportunities for players to compete and expose their talent to university and collegiate programs, while also seeing how some of the top young players in the Maritime region (and others) play with and against each other in an environment that attracts some of the best Canada has to offer.

This year FTF had the privilege to evaluate some of the talent at the event and below is our FTF Playbook Recap (The full FTF Playbook will be available for subscription in 2023)

Girls Top 5 Standouts:

  1. Mhyah Allen | 2023 Grad | ST | UDFC U17AAA | https://youtu.be/9mu89KZ3-Xo

The speedy forward had herself quite the weekend displaying her quickness and agility throughout the event. Myah was ruthless in front of goal (scoring 5 in one game) and continuously showed why she will have an impact at the next level whether at the USPORTS or the NCAA level whoever is lucky enough to land her in 2023.

  1. Georgia Gavas | 2024 Grad | CM | Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club U17AAA |

The crafty CM displayed a great technical and tactical understanding of the game in each match. Despite her ‘smaller frame’ Gavas is very technically sound and works extremely well in tight spaces. Her leadership skills were also evident on the pitch and she is always communicating with her teammates and providing constant positive feedback.

  1. Idara Akpan | 2023 Grad | CM/CB | Suburban U17AAA |

Idara is physically imposing at about 5ft8 she has all the physical tools to be an excellent collegiate player. Playing as a CDM for most of her life Idara’s feet/ passing range  when she moves back to CB is able to make things look very easy. She might be uncommitted now but it won’t be long until she finds her home in 2023.

  1. Addison Langley | 2025 Grad |  CB | U15 PEI FC

Addison was a rock in the back all weekend for the Green Team. Her size and positioning enable her to make very few defensive mistakes. At just 15 years-old with continued development on her long range passing she might turn out to be an All-Conference defender in USPORTS or the NCAA when it’s all said and done. Langley was definitely the top 2025 Girls prospect overall at the event.

  1. Niamh Martin-Manuel |2024 Grad | Winger | Suburban FC

The Canada Summer Games winger showed her athleticism throughout the event consistently beating defenders in 1v1 situations and also working extremely hard defensively. Her end product was on full display, but you can tell there’s room for growth in this area and she has the tools to have a very effective collegiate career.

 Boys Top 5 Standouts:

  1. Lachlan Sylvester | 2024  Grad | CDM | Suburban FC U17AAA and Whitecaps FC BMO Academy Centre

Lockie Sylvester is your prototypical CDM. Good size , great passing range and his will to win are all fantastic qualities in the young prospect. The 2024 Grad Lockie used this stage to show why he’s one of the best prospects in the region regardless of age group.

  1. Elijah Roche| 2025 Grad | Midfielder/ Defender | Ottawa TFC U15AAA, Team Ontario

Elijah Roche is a name to remember in Canada Soccer circles. The Ottawa, Ontario native has the tools to be a professional soccer player which is rare to find at a collegiate combine. The youngest player at the event definitely didn’t “look it” as he plays well above his years. Although he currently can play multiple positions on the field Elijah excelled the most at RB where he displays his fantastic 1v1 defending ability + workrate / intelligence to get forward. There will most likely be an MLS Academy bidding war for his services in the next few years/ months.

  1. Ayouba Kamara | 2024 Grad | Forward | U17 AAA Codiac

‘Supreme Athlete’ is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Ayouba. Kamara was a force to be reckoned with all weekend. His physical tools allow him to get into great positions offensively and with continued work on his technical ability/ ball retention he will have an extremely bright future.

  1. John Kandinda | 2024 Grad | Midfielder |  Codiac U17

You can just tell Kandinda loves playing football. Always with a smile on his face when playing, the crafty midfielder displayed great talent throughout the event. Kanaga technically is advanced for a 2024 prospect and has the versatility/ athletic ability to play as a CAM or a Winger at the next level.

  1. Myers Hayne | 2023 Grad | LB/LCB | Nova Scotia Canada Games

The Canada Summer Games LB/LCB was very strong in every match he played in. With a bonafide left foot and good athleticism Myers can play both LCB and LB positions very well. With continued exposure Myers has the potential to play NCAA Division 1 or be a key piece of a Top -10 U SPORTS program.
