The Playbook | Vancouver Girls Summer Series 2024

The Vancouver Combine for the Summer Series 2024 highlighted a remarkable pool of soccer talent, with participants delivering exceptional performances. The event was characterized by fierce competition and impressive skill showcases, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. The outstanding level of play hints at a bright future for these young athletes, who made a significant impact with their abilities and determination.

GK – Amalie Griffiths | Coquitlam Metro Ford | 2027 Grad

Amalie Griffiths displayed remarkable bravery in her penalty area, consistently making crucial saves with her exceptional shot-stopping ability. Her outstanding distribution skills further set her apart, allowing her to effectively transition play and set up attacking opportunities for her team. Her fearless presence and precise goalkeeping make her a standout performer between the posts. 

DEF – Jessie Rickards | Surrey United | 2026 Grad

Jessie Rickards is a versatile full-back known for her exceptional ability to both attack and defend with equal skill. Her dynamic long throw adds a unique threat to her team’s set-piece opportunities, while her relentless work rate and stamina ensure she consistently outperforms on the field. With great determination, Jessie never shies away from a challenge, making her a presence in every match.

MID – Angelina Burtini | Surrey United | 2026 Grad 

Angelina Burtini, the CM from Surrey United was exceptional box to box. From an attacking perspective, she contributed an ample amount of end product through her goals and assists. Defensively, her strong stature and agility allowed her to act as a secondary line of defense. 

Angelina controlled the tempo of the game in the midfield and was a joy to watch. She is arguably one of the most underrated 2026 Grad recruits in all of Canada.

FWD – Helanoor Grewal | Vancouver United | 2026 Grad 

Helanoor Grewal, the winger from Vancouver United, was the most lethal forward in the Combine, seizing every opportunity to make an impact. Her knack for pouncing on loose balls and deftly maneuvering past defenders not only created scoring chances for herself but also set up her teammates. With her impressive speed and sharp instinct for finding the net, Grewal consistently showcased her scoring prowess throughout the event.

Young Player MVP – Brooklyn Schwartzberg | Del Mar Sharks ECNL| 2028 Grad 

Brooklyn Schwartzberg, a 2010-born talent from Del Mar Sharks ECNL, was the most impressive young player we have ever seen at a FTF girls’ combine. Her soccer IQ is remarkably advanced for her age, and her positional and spatial awareness as a midfielder is exceptional, complemented by her impressive technical skills. As a diamond in the rough with dual citizenship, she should undoubtedly be on the radar for the U15 Canadian national team next year.

Overall MVP – Izzy Benetti | Whitecaps FC Elite/Coastal FC | 2027 Grad

Izzy Benetti, a 2009-born midfielder from Coastal FC/Vancouver Whitecaps FC, is a highly technical and intelligent player set to join the Whitecaps FC program full-time in August. She displays outstanding passing technique and effortless ability to drive past defenders. What sets her apart is her ability to strike a ball exceptionally well from distance offering that extra layer of attacking threat, making her a standout prospect with great potential.
